The second annual Guthrie County Veterans Honor Flight Fundraiser is tomorrow.
Panora American Legion and Sons of the American Legion Post 372 Commander Pat Moylan says that their first golf outing last year was a great success, and this year they are expecting it to do even better. He tells Raccoon Valley Radio about the different ways that someone can be a sponsor for the event.
“So we have hole sponsors, they’re $100. We have flight sponsors, we call them. Those are people that give $600, and I think the last count I have, and I’m still working on a few yet here, tailenders. But it looks like maybe even close to 26 flight sponsors and then probably close to 55 to 60 or better hole sponsors.”
Moylan mentions that those who donate for a flight sponsorship are covering the cost for one veteran to be part of the Honor Flight. The golf outing will be 18 holes, and those competing will do so as four person teams, playing off the best ball. Moylan explains that there have also been several items donated for the silent auction, and that the local area isn’t the only place they’ve received donations from. He is looking forward to seeing all the people that come out to attend, and do something special for the veterans of Guthrie County.
