Perry Superintendent Clark Wicks shares his gratitude for the staff for their resiliency after a tough year.

Wicks tells Raccoon Valley Radio that he is inspired from the school staff and school board’s resilient demeanor following the January 4th shooting that killed longtime High School Principal Dan Marburger. Perry High School honored Marburger during the graduation ceremony on May 26th and Wicks calls him a great friend who was dedicated and gave so much to the community. Wicks is proud of all the staff involved to help navigate through the difficult time.

“The amount of healing that’s gone on. The support for all of us from the community, and then also troopers, our Perry Police Department, and (Dallas County) Sheriff’s Department. We’ve had a lot of help, had a lot of support, we appreciate everybody that has come together to support students, student learning and our staff.”

Wicks points to the positive momentum that has been gained by the school district but emphasizes that this upcoming school year will be another step in the healing process.
