Coach Tom Kennedy’s Greene County High School softball team hosted Roland-Story (Story City) on Wednesday night in Jefferson at the City Field on E. Lincolnway in a contest heard on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com.The Norsemen took advantage of various miscues by the Rams en route to a 10-3 victory that dropped Greene County to 4-10 overall and 3-7 in the conference. The Norsemen improved to 5-10 overall and 3-7 in the league.

The hits were close with eight for R-S and seven by the Rams. The number of runners left on base was close at 11 for the Rams and 10 by R-S. Other numbers were not close with five errors for the Rams to none for the Norsemen. Walks, batters hit with pitches, passed balls, and plays that weren’t errors in the book, but plays that could have been made, were also factors.

Freshman Alivya Smith tripled and singled and drove in a run for the Rams. Junior Payton Kokenge doubled in one run, with singles for Daniele Madsen, junior Violet Reedy, freshman Alaina Heard, and sophomore Addison Gannon each singled.
Heard took the pitching loss with only four of the 10 runs against her being earned.. She struck out four batters while walking four and hitting another four with pitches. Eighth grader Lauren Crabbs hit a solo homer to start the soring in the second inning
