Attendees of the 2023 Wheels for Meals
The second annual Wheels for Meals Show is scheduled for this weekend in Bayard.
The show is a fundraiser for the summer youth lunch program that serves the small communities of Bayard, Bagley, Jamaica, Yale and Linden, and is the brain child of Pastor Bob Rogers. Last year, with the help of many volunteers and helpful donors, the program served about 9,000 meals over a nine week period during the summer.
There will be separate vehicle classes for the show, as cars, motorcycles, trucks and tractors are all able to be entered, with no cost to participate. Children in attendance will be the ones to vote to determine the winners, and those looking to register for the event can do so by calling Brandon Patrick at 712-210-1942. A vendor show is also planned in the Bayard Community Center with no registration fee, and those looking to take part in that should contact Rogers at 641-757-1175.
The event will take place from 10am to 2pm, with the participating vehicles to line up on Main Street, a free will donation BBQ lunch, and a variety of games for children to enjoy, along with face painting. Thanks to generous donations from the 10 Squared Men and 10 Squared Women of Guthrie County, funding for this years meals has already been secured, and proceeds from the event will be added to help prepare for 2025.
