Two people were arrested in Greene County for alleged burglary.
According to court documents, a Greene County Sheriff’s Deputy responded at 2:35pm on May 30th to a 911 call about a suspicious person on a motorcycle at a property in the 500 block of N Avenue. When the deputy arrived on scene, he noticed a sledgehammer and a fixed knife strapped to the motorcycle. The deputy then saw two suspects come out of a building on the southwest side of the rural property, with the male holding a flashlight.
Court documents show that 42-year-old Jesse Edwards of Shell Knob, Missouri and 48-year-old Joy Durham of Fort Dodge, claimed that Durham needed to go to the restroom and were looking for a place outside. Then, they both saw the door to the building that they were in was cracked and so they entered the building to look around. The affidavit says the property owners were called and that the building the suspects were in had been previously closed and locked, and did not have permission to be on the property.
The deputy arrested both of the subjects and charged each of them with a Class D Felony for third degree burglary. Edwards and Durham were booked into the Greene County Jail and were released under the supervision of the Iowa Department of Corrections.
