Greene County’s varsity baseball team isn’t in the win column through it’s first 10 games, but recent results have indicated the team is playing better. Coach Kyle Stalder’s team had leads in its last two games, a 4-3 nine innings loss to Perry, and a 6-3 defeat at the hands of PCM (Monroe). The Rams led the Blue Jays 3-0 at one point and held a 3-2 advantage vs. the Mustangs.

Among the issues the Rams are dealing with are consistency on offense. The team batting average has dipped below .180 and the team hasn’t scored more than four runs in any game and the runs per game average is at 1.8. All 42 hits the Rams have accumulated are singles, which makes run scoring even more difficult without the aid of a single extra base hit.

The Rams will try again tonight at Allensworth Field in Jefferson vs. South Hamilton (Jewell) at 7:30 p.m. on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com. The Hawks won the first meeting in Jewell last month by a 7-2 score and the Hawks are 3-7 on the season and 2-6 in Heart of Iowa Activities Conference play.
