Churdan Day is happening this Saturday and there’s something for everyone.
Co-organizer Libby Towers says the day begins with a 5K Fun/Run that starts and ends at the shelter house in the city park, with a $12 entry fee for anyone 13 and older, while 12 and younger are free. Then the 3-on-3 basketball tournament starts at 9am, followed by the parade and vendors at 10am.
After the parade, there will be a car, truck and tractor show; lunch and music in the park, as well as free kids activities all starting at 11am. Towers notes that the lunch will be a pork burger, chips and a drink as a fundraiser meal, with proceeds going to future Churdan Day events. Churdan’s Town and Country Band will perform at noon. She describes everything that kids can do for free.
“For the kids we’ve got free inflatables from 11(am)-3(pm) going on, and those we’ve got a big bounce house, the giant slide and obstacle course that will be set up for kids to participate in. Around 2:30(pm) we’ll have some face painting in the community room for kids to enjoy, we’ll have some water games, just simple games to play. We’re going to do a little ‘Chalk the Walk.’ So kids can get some chalk and they’ll have a square, and we’ve got some little prizes setup that they’ll be able to win for kind of the best square of sidewalk chalk art done.”
Towers points out the afternoon festivities wrap up around 4pm, that’s when Barrell Smoke Concessions will serve some food. Then, the event ends with a Fireman’s Beer Garden and Street Dance with the Shuffle Couple as the deejay and only individuals who are 21 and older can enter the beer garden. Towers hopes everyone can come to Churdan and celebrate Chudran Day on Saturday. Click the link below to find more information
