The Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Baseball team rounded out the week of games with a great win at home to defeat conference opponent Carlisle on Thursday.
The Tigers beat the Wildcats by a final score of 8-7 as it was an entertaining game where late pitching made the difference. Carlisle scored first in the top of the first inning after a leadoff walk was issued from ADM’s Jack Siefken to Trevor Shepard and he later came to score. The Tigers tied things in the bottom of the inning when Grant Rychnovsky walked then was hit in from a RBI Double from Grant Jansen. The Wildcats scored two more in the top of the second with Isaac Burk and Evan Truitt, who were both hit by pitches as they lead 3-1 going to the bottom of the second when Siefken came around to score thanks to an RBI from Ben Plaisance and the Carlisle lead was cut to 3-2 at the end of two.
Similar to the Winterset game on Wednesday, ADM used another big third inning scoring four with Rychnovsky, Jansen, Cade Fisher, Jaxson Book all scoring to give the Tigers the first lead of 6-3. Rychnovsky would contribute more in the bottom of the fourth when he hit a two-run home run scoring Rhylan Stine-Smith and himself to extend the lead to 8-3. Rychnovsky and Jansen both finished 3-4 in the game. The Wildcats did not quit as they managed to score two in the fifth with Logan Hart and Carson Guthrie and two more in the sixth with Tate Heidemann and Hayden Mohwinkle to inch closer, trailing 8-7. Ausdemore closed out the night pitching for the Tigers and prevented Carlisle from scoring anymore to preserve the 8-7 win.
ADM’s Siefken pitched two innings, allowed two hits, three runs, walked four batters, and two strikeouts. Ausdemore pitched five innings, allowed seven hits, four runs, and struck out four. For Carlisle, Sophomore Bret Schnoor pitched two innings, allowed two hits, two runs, and struck out one. Kyler Maher pitched three quarters of an inning, allowed three hits, four runs, and walked one, while Greyson Johnson-Miers pitched one inning, allowed one hit and two runs, and Mason Inman pitched three innings and allowed two walks.
With the win, ADM improves to 9-9 overall (4-3 inside the Raccoon River Conference) and has won four consecutive games. Carlisle falls to 5-10 overall (3-4 RRC) and will be on the road taking on Sergeant Bluff-Luton tomorrow at 9:30am. The Tigers are off until Monday, where they will travel to Gilbert for another conference matchup.
