Greene County’s high school baseball and softball teams played in Des Moines at Saydel High School in Heart of Iowa Activities Conference action on Monday night. The Eagles swept the action with Saydel improving to 5-0 in both conference baseball and softball. Overall, the Eagles are 5-1 in softball and the baseball Eagles are 9-1. The Rams are 0-8 overall in baseball and 0-6 in conference games while the softball Rams are 3-7, 2-4.

The softball final was 13-3 via the 10 run rule in six innings. Greene County had 10 hits to eight for the Eagles, but the Rams had nine errors to none for Saydel. Freshman Alaina Heard took the pitching loss, allowing five earned runs on eight hits, eight walks, and three batters hit with pitches. All 10 hits for the Rams were singles with two for junior Payton Kokenge, sophomore Kaycee Pittman, two for sophomore Addison Gannon, and one each for junior Violet Reedy, and ninth graders Makenna Ebersole, Bellah Johnson, and Heard. Ebersole and freshman Sara Morlan each batted in a run.

Saydel won the baseball game 8-0. The Rams had five hits, all singles, with two from junior Camden Jacobs, and one apiece for junior Gavyn Winters, and freshmen Jaron Jacobs and Bryce Stephenson. Cam Jacobs took the pitching loss with relief help from Winters. All eight Saydel runs were scored off Jacobs with seven earned runs. He allowed nine hits, walked six, hit one, and fanned four. The Rams were charged with three errors.
