The Iowa Soccer Coaches Association has released it’s boys soccer All-State teams and Greene County has a pair of All-Staters in Class 2A. Gesser Gutierres was named to the 13 member first team and Nathan Behne was on the second team, also comprised of 13 players. Both are seniors. The Rams went 11-3 this season and were the runners-up in the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference to State Tournament semi-finalist Perry, who topped the Rams by a 3-2 score in overtime. In fact, all three losses were by one goal.

The first team All-State selection for Gutierres is his second. He led 2A in goal scoring each of the last two seasons with 42 in 2023 and 49 this season. He scored an even 100 points as a senior and totaled 108 goals for his career,  all of which are uncommon in Iowa high school boys’ soccer. Behne joined the rare “20-20” club with 20 goals and 29 assists this season.

Carl Behne is the head coach of the Rams and Chad Black is the assistant. They are the only two coaches the Rams have known since the boys’ program began in 2018. Greene County teams have had 10 or more wins every season and have produced winning seasons all six times there’s been a season since the program began. There was no 2020 season due to the Pandemic.
