The Adair County Extension will be hosting a fun food related workshop for the youth of the county tomorrow.
The Preserve the Taste of Summer: Jam Making for Youth Workshop will be from 9am to 1:30pm at the 4-H and FFA Center Building. The hands-on workshop will be led by Iowa State University Extension and Outreach Human Sciences Food and Health Specialist Leah Brooke. Those attending will hear the most up-to-date canning recommendations, the basics of water bath canning, make and can jam plus have an opportunity to take home two fair-ready exhibit jars of canned jam.
There is no cost to attend, as the Adair County Extension was able to use local funding to cover those costs. Registration is required though, and youth must be 10 years of age or older. Participants can register by calling the Extension at 641-743-8412, or email Terri Raasch at traasch@iastate.edu. For information or to ask more questions, please contact the Adair County Extension Office.
