A championship Saturday is here for DCG boys and girls soccer, and for both programs, they will be looking to put up championship banners. The girls will be going for their 3rd straight state title when they take on top seed North Polk, while the boys will be aiming for theirs when they take on the number 1 team in Des Moines Hoover.
The girls have been very good in both of their state games so far with them winning in the quarterfinals 4-1 over Cedar Rapids – Xavier before winning over a pesky North Scott team in the semifinals 1-0. This will be the first matchup this season between DCG and North Polk, but the two faced each other the last two years with the Mustangs winning both matchups.
The boys were able to quickly take care of Storm Lake 8-1 in their quarterfinal matchup, before cruising in their semifinal matchup yesterday over Cedar Rapids – Washington 4-0. Junior Zach Bruck had two goals in the win.
The boys game will be played at Mediacom Stadium at Drake University with a 10 am kickoff time and the girls game will be at Cownie Sports Complex in Des Moines on Field 6, with a kickoff time of 5:30.
You can listen to both broadcasts on the new 943, 997, and AM 1310 KDLS and streaming on the KDLS mobile app. Pregame coverage will begin for both games will begin 15 minutes before kickoff.
