The Bell Tower Festival is in less than one week and the Jefferson City Council has one again pitched in with financial support.

Bell Tower Festival Committee Chair Philip Heisterkamp requested from the Council at their meeting on May 14th for $15,000 to pay for the carnival. The Council approved the request and City Administrator Scott Peterson explains where the funding to pay that amount is coming from.

“Noting the funds come from Hotel/Motel Taxes. So it’s another event that is designed to bring people to town and it’s funded by those revenues that come to the community from other visitors. So, really just another great way to market our community and the City wants to be a positive partner in that.”

The final preparations are happening on the downtown square by the Public Works Department and Peterson is appreciative of their work.

“Public Works Department does a great job working in the downtown square area, getting everything all prepped up and ready to go, and then having all of the barriers and the garbage collection in place for the event. Big kudos to the Public Works Department (and) huge kudos to the Bell Tower Festival Committee. I think they do a fantastic job of getting the festival ready to go and really, really looking forward to it.”

The 2024 Bell Tower Festival is June 6th through the 8th.
