Coach Tom Kennedy’s Greene County High School softball team hosted Heart of Iowa Activities Conference rival Nevada on Wednesday night in Jefferson at the City Field on E. Lincolnway. The Cubs won the game by a 13-3 final in five innings by the 10 run rule to improve to 2-3 on the season. The Rams have lost four straight games to fall to 2-5 overall and 2-2 in the league.

Freshman Alaina Heard pitched the first 4-2/3 innings for the Rams and took the loss. Heard allowed all 13 runs, but only four were earned. The Cubs had eight hits, walked four times, were hit with pitches twice, and struck out six times. Freshman Bellah Johnson threw one-third of an inning. The Rams were charged with five errors.

Offensively, junior Payton Kokenge singled three times for the Rams with freshman Makenna Ebersole collecting a double. The Rams had singles from sophomore Kaycee Pittman, junior Violet Reedy, and freshman Bellah Johnson.
