The Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Softball team ran into a tough pitcher from North Polk as they lost their third game of the season on Wednesday.

The Comets defeated the Tigers in a Raccoon River Conference matchup by a final score of 5-0. North Polk scored two runs in the first inning after Elyse Engebretson led off with a walk and later came into score. The other run was in from Catcher Lucy Lucas to lead 2-0 after the first. The score would remain that until the Comets brought in two more in the fifth with Engebretson’s second and Katelyn Klever. An additional run was scored in the sixth from North Polk’s Peyton Westra to cap off the 5-0 shutout.

Starting pitcher for the Comets was Junior Ava Husak as she went all seven innings, allowed one hit, and struck out 11 batters. ADM’s starting pitcher Sophomore Lauren Hagedorn pitched all seven innings, allowed six hits, five runs, had four walks, as well as four strikeouts.
