After playing their first four games away from home, the Greene County High School baseball team was at Allensworth Field on Wednesday night, the second straight home game. Coach Kyle Stalder’s Rams hosted Nevada in Heart of Iowa Activities Conference play and the Cubs won by a 7-4 final. Nevada improves to 4-3 overall and 1-2 in the HOIAC with the Rams falling to 0-6 and 0-4.
Junior Noah Hinote was the starting pitcher for Greene County. He threw all seven innings, allowing nine hits, three walks, one hit batsman, and he struck out six Cubs. The Rams were not charged with any errors, and some outstanding defensive plays were recorded.
The Rams had six hits, all singles, with three by junior Crew Conner, who batted in two of the four Greene County runs. Junior Camden Jacobs, freshman Jaron Jacobs, and sophomore Teagan Chisholm each singled. Greene County is still looking for its first extra base hit of the season.
The Rams are off today, then host West Marshall (State Center) on Friday in a JV/varsity twin bill, weather permitting.
