Dallas Center – Grimes boys soccer was looking for a strong showing in the 3A state quarterfinals on Wednesday morning in Des Moines, and they were able to find exactly that, putting together a flurry of goals and defeating Storm Lake by the score of 8-1. DCG moves to 15-4 on the year.

The first half was a competitive one as DCG was able to get a quick goal in the first few minutes, and added two more in the frame, but Storm Lakes effort was a quality one with DCG leading 3-1 at halftime. The second half, the Mustangs were able to establish firm control as they were able to get five goals in the frame and cruise to the next round in the process.

They will be playing in the state semifinals on Friday afternoon against the six seed Cedar Rapids – Washington. The game will be at 1 pm and can be heard on the Raccoon Valley Radio Network.
