The Guthrie County Board of Supervisors met in regular session Tuesday.

The Board heard from Guthrie County Health Services Director Jotham Arber on assistance the department has offered Greenfield. Guthrie County Environmental Health oversees Adair County Environmental Health. With that in mind, Arber believed that it only made sense that they offer whatever aid they could.

Arber also shared that after the May 21st tornado, Public Health traveled to Greenfield, taking mental health officials to care for Greenfield residents, along with transporting equipment for the Adair and Guthrie County Emergency Management Agency. He said that the transfer station had been communicating with Adair County’s transfer station, and was offering help with intake of debris as needed.

Arber then mentioned that nurses from Public Health has made a few trips down, especially to help with giving out tetanus shots, and will continue to do so as needed. He also explained that administration for the Health Services Department were taking notes on how crisis control was being done, in the case that something similar happened in Guthrie County, as Greenfield is of a similar size and status as Guthrie Center, Panora and Stuart.

To finish off his update, Arber wanted to make sure that Adair and Guthrie County Emergency Management Coordinator Jeremy Cooper was recognized for the fantastic job he has been doing in helping to coordinate the many organizations that have descended on the town to assist in recovery efforts. The Board then canceled the June 4th meeting, as that is the day of the primary elections.
