Greenfield native and painter of the Freedom Rocks Ray Sorensen hopes to complete the 26th annual painting of the original Freedom Rock by Memorial Day.

The dedication to the men and women who have served our country is almost completed, but with Greenfield reeling from the tornado that slammed into the town last week, Sorensen has split his time to help. During the days he’s been in Greenfield doing whatever he can, and in the evenings and nights he returns to the rock to finish his masterpiece. His two oldest children have been a great help with the painting, as they love to assist him in the beginning stages of the project. Sorensen plans to be at the Freedom Rock on Memorial Day to meet with visitors, along with selling merchandise to help offset the cost of the painting, which he is not commissioned for.
