Trailing 7-2 through five innings vs. Roland-Story in Roland on Friday night, Greene County’s softball team scored 10 unanswered runs in the last two innings to take the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference road contest, 12-7. Coach Tom Kennedy’s team is 2-1 overall and in the league heading into the Ogden Tournament today. After a season opening loss, 10-0 in Monroe to PCM, the Rams have scored 21 runs in their two victories, 9-5 in Jewell vs. South Hamilton, before putting 12 on the board on the road vs. the Norsemen. R-S fell to 1-3 on the season. Greene County plays two more on the road at 9 and 10:45 a.m. today in Ogden.

The Rams had 13 hits, 12 of those being singles, and nine different Rams had at least one hit. Violet Reedy had the only extra base hit, a double, and she had one run batted in. Those with two singles were Payton Kokenge, Daniele Madsen, Addison Gannon, and Bellah Johnson. Alivya Smith, Sara Morlan, Alaina Heard, and Kaycee Pittman each had one hit. Morlan drove in two runs with one RBI each for Pittman, Heard, Madsen, Smith, and Johnson. The Rams also drew six walks.

The Rams and Norsemen played baseball in Story City with R-S winning 15-1 in 4-1/2 innings by the 10 run rule. Few statistics were provided by the Rams by the time of this publication deadline. R-S had 15 hits to six for Greene County. The Rams fell to 0-4 on the season with four runs scored in four games, and Coach Kyle Stalder’s team is 0-3 in HOIAC play. The Rams have yet to play a game on the home diamond. R-S improved to 7-2.
