Activity of tornadic events affected portions of Greene, Guthrie, and Dallas counties during the early morning on Friday.

The National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Western Greene and Northwestern Guthrie County that quickly turned into a tornado warning around 3:20am. A tornado warning was then issued to Southeastern Greene, Northeastern Guthrie, and Northwestern Dallas counties at 4:14am as a severe thunderstorm was spotted near Guthrie Center and over Lake Panorama moving east at 50 mph. 

According to Dallas County Emergency Management Coordinator AJ Seely, tornado sirens were activated for DeSoto, Van Meter and Perry around 4:20am as the storm continued to move east. Seely claimed that the lower eastern portion of Perry saw rotation with the Minburn Fire Department reported up to 50 mph winds. Michael Fowle, with the National Weather Service, revealed that there were up to 63 mph winds near the Perry Municipal Airport. At 4:41am, the National Weather Service shared rotation activity between Dallas Center and Adel, with the Dallas Center Fire Department stating that winds were 60-70 mph. According to Seely, approximately 3,500 residents primarily in the Adel and Perry area were without power with sites of larger trees down in Perry at 5:01am. 

Greene County Sheriff Jack Williams reported 60 mph winds and moderate rainfall in the Scranton area, along with smaller size tree branches down. Severe weather sirens were activated for Rippey when the city was included in the tornado warning with small to mid-sized tree branches on a couple of roads. According to Midland Power Cooperative, at least 60 homes are without power in Greene County. 

For Guthrie County, heavy rain and strong winds began at around 4am. The National Weather Service expired the tornado and thunderstorm warnings at about 5:07am. Six employees from Raccoon Valley Radio assisted with the coverage along with Weatherology meteorologists.
