Greene County lost by a 7-2 score at Prairie City vs. PCM in Heart of Iowa Activities Conference baseball last night. The Rams are 0-3 overall and 0-2 in the conference and they’ll be away from home again tonight when they play Roland-Story in Story City. The schedule had Coach Kyle Stalder’s team on the road for the first five games of the season, but one was weathered out.

PCM improved to 1-3 this season and the Mustangs led 6-0 through five innings before the Rams got on the board, scoring both its runs in the top of the sixth. Junior Noah Hinote took the pitching loss. He went all six innings and allowed six earned runs. Hinote gave up six hits, three walks, and two batters hit with pitches, while striking out four.

The Rams managed five hits, all singles. Junior Lane Fields had two hits and one run batted in, with freshman Degan Miller collecting a single and one RBI. Sophomore Adam Bills and junior Camden Jacobs each had one base hit.

Greene County softball also plays Roland-Story on the road tonight. That JV/varsity doubleheader will be played in Roland.

Perennial power Van Meter is the opponent for the first Greene County home game of the season this Tuesday at Allensworth Field in Jefferson.
