The City of Perry is in the midst of many construction projects relating to Willis Avenue.
According to Perry City Administrator Sven Peterson, work began a few weeks ago on an overlay project by the contractor Des Moines Asphalt. He details that the project will be an asphalt overlay on Willis Avenue from West Third Street to 15th Street. Peterson elaborates on the improvements that will be made.
“Curb repairs were needed. They’re going to grind down the existing surface and then lay down brand new asphalt, and repaint it so it’s a nice smooth ride down Willis (Avenue).”
Peterson describes the project being bid through the Department of Transportation and that the section from First Street to West Third Street is completed, but the whole street of Willis Avenue is planned to be completed by the end of June.
