The City of Greenfield suffered damage from recent tornadic events, and the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office volunteered assistance in the recovery process.

Dallas County Sheriff Adam Infante tells Raccoon Valley Radio that four deputies alongside himself went to Greenfield on Tuesday to help search for injured people and survivors. Infante explains that he’s seen a few sites suffer from tornado damage in Iowa, but has never witnessed anything quite as catastrophic as he’s seen in Greenfield.

Infante notes that a picture was found on Wednesday outside the sheriff’s office with an individual who was wearing a Nodaway Valley shirt, which he says is a coincidence since he was in the Greenfield area the day prior.

“Oh my gosh, I can’t believe this picture came from that tornado and ended up right here, and given the fact that I was there just the day before.”

Infante mentions that the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office is holding the Adair County inmates while the community of Greenfield continues to clean up in their area. He does intend to return the picture to its rightful owner once the sheriff’s office can identify them.
