A book auction is coming up at the beginning of June for the Democrats in the Perry area.

The Perry Democrats will have a Banned Book Auction on Saturday, June 1st from 10-11:30am at the Proletariat Restaurant, 1213 2nd Street, in Perry. A press release states that the event includes readings by local high school students, a presentation from Iowa Senator Claire Celsi, plus members of the Education and Government Oversight Committees. 

The Perry Democrats point out the books to be auctioned feature books that are currently being challenged, and classics that have been banned in the past. The release adds that the event will include a silent auction of books donated by Perry readers, bookstores, and the Annie’s Foundation.
