Perry Baseball Offense Quiet in HOI Loss

The Perry bats struggled to get going Wednesday night as 12th ranked Roland Story defeated Perry 5-0 in the Heart of Iowa Conference opener.  Senior right hander Brett Schmitz tossed a one hit masterpiece, striking out eleven while walking four.  Schmitz led the offense with three hits. The Norseman scored three in the first inning and single tallies in both the second and fourth frames.

Wyitt Belgarde managed the only Perry hit on the night.  Gabe Beato just missed a two-run home run in the 6th as it hooked just foul wide of the left field foul pole.  Kaelan Davis was solid on the mound, allowing three earned runs over four plus innings.  Owen Myers pitched two scoreless innings out of the bullpen.

Perry falls to 1-3 on the season and 0-1 in the Heart of Iowa.  The Bluejays travel to Madrid tonight for a non-conference game.
