Towards the end of the school year, several students in the Greene County School District helped beautify Jefferson.
Seven students in the Iowa Jobs for America’s Graduates (iJAG) program were led by Jefferson resident Vern Foje and they planted flowers as part of a 15 hour community service project. According to the school district, the flowers were planted at Subway, Ole’s Corner and Shell gas station, as well as the Greene County Community Center.
The students not only helped make the community look better, but they also gained life skills about gardening. Foge said he enjoyed helping the kids learn about the flowers they were planting and showing them how to care for the community they live in.
