The state of Iowa was hit with severe weather throughout Monday night into early Tuesday morning, including thunderstorms in Dallas County.

The National Weather Service issued a thunderstorm warning for Southwestern Dallas County at about 8:05am. Raccoon Valley Radio’s Severe Weather Action Team was live with coverage as the thunderstorm continued to move south of Dexter and 11 miles west of Winterset, moving east at 45 mph. The City of Perry received heavy rainfall with lightning and thunder around 8:30am. The warning expired at 9:35am. More severe weather is expected throughout the day into tonight as the National Weather Service has Dallas County under a moderate risk for severe weather potential, which is four out of five on the risk scale.

There were five employees from Raccoon Valley Radio that assisted with the coverage along with Weatherology meteorologists. Raccoon Valley Radio’s Severe Weather Action Team will provide live coverage anytime there is a severe thunderstorm or tornado warning for Greene, Dallas, and Guthrie counties.
