May is School Board Appreciation Month and the Greene County School District Superintendent comments on the five-person school board.
Superintendent Brett Abbotts describes what he thinks about the school board, from his perspective and the community.
“I am truly spoiled with our board that we have. They are incredibly supportive of the work that is happening in our schools, they’re highly, highly intelligent people, (and) they push and challenge me as much as needed. They’ve been just fantastic to work with.”
Abbotts acknowledges that the school board and administration have an equal number of years of experience within the school district with six years, and he explains how that has been a positive.
“We don’t have some preconceived notions or some old habits, or anything like that, so I think we’re learning together, we’re learning the right way, and doing things the best that we can for our kids and community.”
The five Greene County School Board members include President Bonnie Silbaugh, Vice President Cindi Daubendiek, along with Michelle Fields, Tim Riphagen, and Connie Boyd. Each was recognized with a certificate of appreciation at the May board meeting.
