The second job fair for the Perry community is happening tomorrow and a representative from Iowa Works pinpoints expectations for it.
The job fair will be taking place tomorrow at the Iowa National Guard Armory in Perry from noon-5pm. Iowa Works Operations Manager William Berning tells Raccoon Valley Radio the organization will have a more hands-on approach during the event.
Berning describes that their organization provided more support at the job fair in April as it was focused more on businesses in Perry. He notes that the Workforce’s Mobile Unit will be on hand this time around.
“Our mobile workforce center is also going to be there. With around 80 employers, job seekers in the public as well as those impacted with (the) Tyson (closure in Perry) are welcomed to come visit with our Mobile Workforce Center. If they need to print off their resume, apply for a job, they can do that right there as well.”
The job fair is geared towards employees directly affected by the closure of the Tyson Foods Pork Plant in Perry at the end of June, but anyone looking for work is invited to check it out. The event will be held at the Iowa National Guard, 2930 Willis Ave, in Perry from noon-5pm.
