The Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Baseball team put forth a great effort but came up short against Dowling Catholic for the home opener on Tuesday as the team honored mothers prior to the game.

The Tigers fell to the Maroons by a score of 12-2 in six innings. Dowling Catholic scored the game’s first run in the third inning, followed by three in the fourth, six in the fifth inning, and two in the sixth. ADM scored one run in the fourth and the other in the sixth, both by Senior Grant Rychnovsky. The Maroons were led by Senior Max Shelton with three runs, Senior Trever Baumler, Senior Drew Brauch, and Junior Carter Nicholson all tallied two, then it was Junior Will Kelly, Senior Thomas Huegerich, and Senior Matthew Koener with one a piece.

Starting pitcher for Dowling Catholic was Junior Dylan Webb finished five innings with five strikeouts, three walks, and hit a batter. Reliever Junior Jack Barrett had two strikeouts and allowed one walk. For ADM, Junior Grant Jansen threw four innings with five strikeouts and a walk. Freshman Cole Waddingham showed poise on the mound with one strikeout and Senior Sam Kock also finished with a strikeout.

The Tigers fall to 0-2 overall while Dowling Catholic picks up their first win. ADM is back in action today on the road in Van Meter with first pitch set for approximately 7pm. Raccoon Valley Radio will carry the broadcast on K107.9 KKRF.
