As National Police Week Continues, Stuart Police Sergeant Katie Guisinger shares what helps keep their department running smoothly.
Guisinger mentions that all four officers get along well, and the relationship they’ve built is because they all feel like family. She tells Raccoon Valley Radio that something that has helped foster this is the leadership of their Chief, Dave Reha.
“This is something you don’t see in a lot of small towns, but we have a police chief that has been our chief for 15 years, and I can’t say enough about what he brings to the table as far as leadership and knowledge and experience. And having someone like that in our community that can help guide all of us as officers, you know, I’m trying to gain as much knowledge as I can as I start to try and guide our younger officers and our night officers.”
Guisinger mentions that because of his longevity in the department, Chief Reha is extremely helpful when any of the officers have a question on how to go about an investigation or case. She adds that when they do have questions, if Chief Reha doesn’t have an answer off the top of his head, he usually is able to get back to them in a few minutes with the information they need.
