Several deadlines are on the horizon for tomorrow for Greene County 4-H’ers as the county fair is about two months away.
Greene County Extension 4-H and Youth Coordinator Samantha Hardaway says all 4-H’ers who are going to be exhibiting any animals that are not horse or dog, must complete a Youth for the Quality Care of Animals (YQCA) training. She points out it is imperative that 4-H’ers complete this t$12 training that can be done online at yqcaprogram.org.
“If they are exhibiting, they have to do this. It is a Youth Quality Assurance Training and it just talks about how to safely care for animals, especially for those animals going into the market. So it’s really important that we get this training. It only takes you about an hour, but it is really important that we get this done.”
Hardaway notes that 4-H’ers who have completed YQCA can text or email a photo of their certificate to Hardaway for verification. The deadline to complete this is tomorrow.
Hardaway says other important information that must be done by tomorrow’s deadline is all swine must have their $3 ear tags, along with being identified and paperwork submitted, which includes an $8 DNA tag for swine that are being exhibited at the Iowa State Fair. All other animals, except for rabbit and poultry, must be identified through 4-H Online by tomorrow as well.
