Anyone looking to get rid of documents and other paper items at home can come to a special event tomorrow in Jefferson.
Home State Bank is hosting its annual Shred Day from 4-5:30pm in the south parking lot. Marketing and Communications Director Jackie Cunningham tells Raccoon Valley Radio last year’s event took in just under 1,200 pounds of materials. Some of the acceptable items include copy and computer paper, white and colored paper, shiny or coated papers, magazines, sticky notes, gold or white envelopes and either have or don’t have windows, spiral notebooks, among others.
Cunningham advises everyone that wants to participate that there is no limit to the number of items someone brings, but she encourages participants to bring non-perishable food items with them to donate to the food pantry, the Greene County Action Resource Center, although this isn’t a requirement for the shredding. Last year, Cunningham says they donated enough items that filled the back of a truck. Additionally Cunningham notes that Home State Bank pledges to donate $0.25 per pound of shredded materials to be given to the food pantry..
Cunningham adds that Home State Bank employees will be directing traffic to enter the parking lot from East Lincoln Way and exit to the west. People do not need to get out of their vehicles but to help direct volunteers with the kinds of items they have to be shredded. Check the list of acceptable items for shredding below.
