It’s season opening night for the Dallas Center – Grimes baseball team, and they will be looking to start the season in the winning column in Slater against the Ballard Bomber baseball team.

The Mustangs were able to have a tremendous year in 2023, going 30-7 and 18-3 as champion of the Little Hawkeye Conference and advancing to the quarterfinals of the 4A state tournament.

Many players from that team are back, and DCG will be having some expectations coming into the year, with the major one being finding a way back to the state tournament.

Historically this has been a series that DCG has had an advantage in, winning 18 of the last 24, but Ballard has been able to win two out of the last three.

The game will be happening at 7 o’clock at Nite Hawk Field, as the Mustangs will be looking to put together a nice start to their season.
