Over 80 people attended and were included in the official ribbon-cutting for a collaborative public art project in Jefferson Friday evening.

Imagination Alley is the west alleyway in downtown Jefferson and the chair of the project, Jean Van Gilder, said the idea and design to re-imagine the space started in 2021. Van Gilder mentioned that the idea for Imagination Alley was based on fairytales and Nevada artist Kelsey Wilson painted the mural on the Art on the Fly building that is owned by Jolene Peters.
Van Gilder noted that there are 12 areas on the mural itself that are augmented reality images that come to life using an app called Overly. A Cumming, Iowa artist, Hilde DeBruyne, created all of the sculptures that are in the alleyway. Several entities were thanked and the grand opening went from 5-7pm Friday evening, but the alleyway is open for everyone to enjoy.
