National Teacher Appreciation Week is winding down and the staff at the Greene County School District has seen quite a lot of acts of kindness.

Several businesses and organizations showed their gratitude to teachers in a number of ways this week. One example as described by Bringing Optimism and Opportunities to Students and Teachers (BOOST) Member Tracy Deal is that they filled envelopes with Chamber Bucks and each school building administrator had teachers draw from the envelopes to see if they got $25 in Chamber Bucks or more.

Superintendent Brett Abbotts describes his impression of the level of community support there is for the staff.

“I’m always shocked at how supportive our community is of our schools and our teachers. And it’s great to just see it all the time.”

Abbotts adds each building also did their own appreciation activities, including one building where teachers had their classes covered for an hour so the teachers could have some personal time during the school day.
