The Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Boys Soccer team defeated Carlisle to pick up their 14th win to close out the regular season.
The Tigers and Wildcats came into Friday’s matchup with a 6-1 record inside the Raccoon River Conference. The game was scoreless for the first 30 minutes until ADM had a free kick near Carlisle’s goal. Senior Rhylan Stine-Smith kicked to Senior Peyton Meier who quickly turned around for a shot attempt, which ended up going past Carlisle’s Junior Goalie Diego Flores for a 1-0 lead 32 minutes into the game.
That was the score at the half and the second half was defensive minded as well until a red card was called on Wildcats Senior Trae Allen after tripping ADM’s Owen Kirk. Kirk was assessed a yellow card during the first half. At the 73rd minute of the game, Senior Carson Kay had a free kick, which he converted on to give the Tigers a 2-0 advantage. ADM went onto win by that margin to improve to 14-1 overall (7-1 RRC) while Carlisle falls to 9-6 overall (6-2 RRC).
The Tigers had six shots on goal, and five corner kicks, while Carlisle had 16 shots on goal and six corner kicks. Next up for ADM, they will face either Boone or Central Iowa United in the Section 3A-4 Semifinal game on May 20th at 7pm, while Carlisle will host Iowa City Liberty that same night.
