Greene County Medical Center celebrated National Nurses Week this week with a ceremony to honor two individuals.

There were seven people nominated for the Partner of Nursing Award. GCMC CEO Chad Butterfield described the recognition as one where it was started within the nursing staff at the medical center that nominates individuals who assist them in their jobs that they do.

The 2024 recipient was Pharmacist in the in-Patient Pharmacy Lauren Goeser. The Quad-Cities native has been working at the medical center for two years and shared what her reaction was that she was this year’s Partner on Nursing winner.

“Surprised and very grateful. These nurses make it easy to work with. I love coming to work with them everyday and communicating with them.”  

The other highlight was the DAISY Award. This is given to a nurse that exemplifies extraordinary patient care. Butterfield mentioned that anyone can nominate a nurse for the honor. There were 15 nominees with Sydney Schiltz named the winner. Schiltz has worked at the medical center for six years, including the last four years as a nurse in the acute care and emergency room. 

The ceremony took place Thursday afternoon in the main lobby of the medical center.
