Recently, the US Senate chose not to pursue an impeachment trial of US Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas and one Senator is speaking out.
Senator Chuck Grassley disagrees with Senate Democrats and Majority Leader Senator Chuck Schumer’s decision because in the last 22 incidents, the Senate has always heard the impeachment prosecutors from the House tell why there should be a trial in the Senate.
“This is the first time that the United States Senate hasn’t done its job of listening to the prosecution and moving forward with the trial.”
Grassley explains the reasons why he believes that Senator Schumer didn’t want to have the trial.
“He didn’t want three or four days of talking about an open border on the floor of the United States Senate so the American people could see it on television.”
Sources say the House voted for impeachment of Secretary Mayorkas for not enforcing immigration laws. Grassley adds Mayorkas was following the orders from President Joe Biden, who ran on the platform during Biden’s candidacy that he would allow a more open border for anyone to enter the country.
