A Perry resident shared concerns about people speeding through town at the city council meeting on Monday.

During the open forum at Monday’s meeting, a resident expressed their concern regarding people speeding through the community and encouraged the council to consider installing speed bumps. The resident particularly pointed to seeing many drivers speeding on Fifth Street.

Items on the agenda that were approved include a resolution to accept the funds from Bolton & Menk to acquire snow removal equipment in the amount of $417,000. Phases two and three were approved for the runway at the Perry Municipal Airport that totaled over $793,500, a pay application for the Frog Creek Restoration project for $54,607.73, a pay application for the Iowa Street Stormwater Wetland for $19,176.39, and a pay application to replace a digester blower to Woodruff Construction for $23,223.23.

Additional items that were approved pertain to make improvements to the Hotel Pattee and La Poste, then the council approved multiple insurance policies for city employees including health care, dental, vision, and long term disability benefits.

More items approved on the agenda were authorization the destruction of specified documents for the police department, setting a public hearings for a general obligation loan agreement, discussion about the fiscal year 2024 budget, and proposed zoning amendments on May 20th at 6pm, authorizing changes to street lighting on 3rd Street between Willis and Otley, plus expanding the board membership on the Dallas County Board of Supervisors from three to five.
