A special mural is now located in the City of Adel, and the Adel Partners Chamber will be celebrating with an official ribbon cutting tomorrow.
The chamber debuted the mural to members on April 25th during the City’s “Celebrate This Is Adel” event. Chamber Director Deb Bengston tells Raccoon Valley Radio that the idea came from a discussion she had with Lashier Graphics & Signs, located in Des Moines, about a mural they already had during the state fair.
After discussion with the city, Bengston notes that they were in agreement to bring a similar mural to Adel. She emphasizes that the chamber is not allowed to paint or put any permanent signage up in the downtown district, which is why the interactive decision was made. Bengston details how the mural operates.
“You scan the QR code. The QR code has interactive parts that show up on your phone. Words will pop out, pictures will move and you will be able to load a picture of yourself in the mural.”
Bengston states that those different aspects will be apart of the experience, but the actual mural will not change. The ribbon cutting will be held tomorrow at noon on the west side of the Fiesta Building, 109 Nile Kinnick Drive, in Adel.
