May is a big month for those in 4-H.

Guthrie County Iowa State University Extension Youth Coordinator Rachel Blum says that the biggest part of the month is the many deadlines that 4-H members need to remember. She tells Raccoon Valley Radio that there is one big date to remember the most.

“May 15th is a state deadline that you have to have all animals, including beef, bottle calf, sheep, goats, horses, swine and dogs, all have to be identified on 4HOnline by May 15th to show at State and County Fair. This is a huge deadline. If you don’t get them identified on there, you won’t be able to show, and it’s just a hard deadline.”

Blum mentions swine DNA tags must also be turned in on May 15th. She adds that Adair – Casey Clover Kids will also have a meeting on May 15th, along with the many deadlines for the older 4-H members.
