The Guthrie County Iowa State University (ISU) Extension and Outreach will be hosting two events next week.
Program Director Meghan McBride says that they will have herb garden workshops at two local libraries. She mentions that individuals will be able to create their own herb gardens, and learn how to harvest the herbs, and about Spend Smart Eat Smart, a program offered by ISU.
McBride tells Raccoon Valley Radio why they’re hosting the workshops.
“So those programs are put on by the Guthrie County Master Gardeners. They enjoy putting on those different programs and workshops each year, and this year we are going to try out some different things. We have more in store, so we’re just kind of starting out testing the waters with the herb garden and then definitely have more ideas for later this summer.”
McBride explains that the workshop at the Casey Public Library will be Monday from 6-8pm, while the one at the Panora Public Library will be May 9th from 2-4pm. She adds that those interested in attending will need $5 per garden to cover the cost of materials, and will also need to call the Extension to register. There will be two more workshops later in the month.
