Federal lawmakers from Iowa are looking to expand the reach of E-15 fuels when year round sales begin next year.

US Senator Chuck Grassley tells Raccoon Valley Radio the Environmental Protection Agency will allow for E-15 fuel to be manufactured and sold year round starting in 2025 for the eight Midwestern states that filed a petition for the ban to be lifted. However, he says there is a bill that is being pushed by himself, along with Senators Joni Ernst and Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) who want E-15 to be sold across the country.

“It’s really complicated for the petroleum people to mix up for these eight states E-15 and then for the other 42 states, you’ve got some other mixture. So it seems to me we’re getting some interest from the petroleum industry to cooperate with biofuels to make this nationwide. So it’s a little more simple for them to move ahead.”

Grassley adds the last time there was a partnership from Big Oil was 2007 when the Renewable Fuels Standards were established.
