A criminal trial is underway for the first time in US history against a former president.

US Senator Chuck Grassley believes the criminal trial in New York against former president Donald Trump actually helps Trump’s candidacy for president because people see how unfair it is because it is political.

“These charges could have been filed two years ago in almost every, one of these four jurisdictions, could have been filed a long time ago. So it’s quite obvious that this administration is putting this president on trial in four different jurisdictions to take up his time on the campaign trail.”

Grassley believes that once Trump gets past this trial that is keeping him from the campaign trail for six weeks, the rest may not happen until after the November election.
