Dallas County is preparing for a barrage of bikers to participate in an annual ride tomorrow.

The 35th anniversary of the Raccoon River Valley Trail (RRVT) Bike Ride will take place tomorrow from noon to 4pm, pending weather. According to the Chairman of the RRVT Association Pat Steele, the ride will begin at the trailhead in Dallas Center, travel to Minburn, then riders can either continue on to Perry or find the High Trestle Trail connector and ride on that before heading back to Dallas Center.

Steele notes that riders can even turn around once they hit Minburn depending on how far they’re wanting to go. He claims that the event is not a race, but a way to honor a symbolic holiday in Iowa.

“It’s just kind of a way to get out and celebrate trails in Iowa, which is part of National Celebrate Trails Day. One of the events that’s going around across the country to celebrate trails in our country.”

Steele tells Raccoon Valley Radio that over 70 riders have registered, but people are allowed to show up the day of the race to participate. He recommends following the association’s Facebook page as an announcement will be made by 9am tomorrow on whether or not the ride is happening due to possible thunderstorms.
