The Raccoon Valley Radio listening area will need to keep an eye out for severe weather starting tonight through the weekend.
National Weather Service Meteorologist Brooke Hagenhoff says that there is a low pressure system moving into the area late tonight through tomorrow that will bring the first batch of bad weather, with a second system following it from Saturday into Sunday. She tells Raccoon Valley Radio what Iowans in the path of the storm systems can expect.
“Each day there are different hazards that we’re expecting, but overall there is still a severe threat each day. Whether that threat is for damaging wind, large hail, even tornadoes, and (the) possibility for some street flooding in areas that have heavier rain. The main thing to key in on is if anyone has outdoor activities, especially with a warm weekend coming up, to keep in mind identifying those areas where you can seek shelter to be able to keep yourself and your family safe and identifying those in advance.”
Hagenhoff mentions that once the storms blow through, next week should start off pleasantly warm in the 60-70 degree range. She mentions that things may cool off later in the week, as it looks like another system may be making its way through at that time.
