The March unemployment rates were recently reported for the Raccoon Valley Radio area.

According to Iowa Workforce Development, Guthrie County had a significant drop in unemployment from February to March of 1.1 percent from four percent to 2.9 percent. Dallas County’s unemployment rate for March was 2.5 percent, a 0.2 percent increase from February.  Greene County remained the same from February to March at 2.1 percent. 

All three counties are outpacing their respective unemployment rates from March of last year. Guthrie County had a 3.6 unemployment rate in March of 2023, Dallas County was at 2.3 percent, and Greene County reported 2.2 percent unemployment in March of last year.

The statewide unemployment rate for last month was 2.9 percent and the national unemployment rate was 3.8 percent.
