The City of Adel picks up an award for the third straight decade.

The city has been recognized as a 2023 tree city USA recipient for the 30th consecutive year. According to a press release, the city was given the award at the 33rd Annual Community Forestry Awards Luncheon in Ankeny earlier this month. 

The city states that in order to be qualified for the award, the city must have either a forester or an active city tree board, have a tree ordinance, spend at least two dollars per capita annually for its community forestry program, and have a tree planting and maintenance plan. Adel was one of the 74 communities in the United States.
